Our marine instructors have years of experience dealing with a broad range of maritime emergencies from U.S. Coast Guard approved ship and barge fire fighting classes to rescue and mass casualty incidents.
All maritime employees involved in the entry and work in or rescue from confined spaces are mandated by OSHA to be properly trained and equipped to safely perform the tasks assigned to them by their employers. This course is designed to meet and exceed the requirements for confined space rescue teams as described by OSHA standards 29 CFR 1915 Subparts A and B.
This course will give the participants the knowledge and skills necessary to safely perform a rescue from a confined space. The major emphasis of this course is placed on practical, hands-on field exercises. This course is taught at your facility using your confined space problems.
Subjects to be covered include: Confined Space Regulations Overview; Special Rescue Equipment; Knots; Lowering and Raising Systems; Belaying Techniques; Patient Packaging and Hands-On Practice.
Marine Competent Person Training
OSHA mandates that a Competent Person or certified Marine Chemist perform all atmospheric testing prior to any work being performed in confined spaces. This course will give the participants the knowledge required under OSHA standard 29 CFR 1915.7 Subpart A Competent Person.
Subjects to be covered include Subparts B, C, D, and H of OSHA standard 29 CFR 1915; Confined Space Operations; Hot Work Requirements; Atmospheric Monitoring Procedures; Hazard Recognition and Control; Personal Protective Equipment; and Record Keeping.
Marine Confined Space Entry Training
All maritime employees required to enter and work in confined spaces are mandated by OSHA to be properly trained and equipped before performing any tasks assigned to them by their employer. This course is designed to prepare those employees to work safely in confined spaces and to meet or exceed the requirements of OSHA standard 1915.
Subjects to be covered include: Confined Space Regulations Overview; Hazard Recognition; Hot Work Safety; Personal Protective Equipment; and Self-Rescue.
This program gives the participants the knowledge to recognize and eliminate fire hazards while acting as a fire watch and the skills to safely utilize both portable fire extinguishers and low-volume hand lines to extinguish incipient fires.
Subjects to be covered include: Classes of Fire; Types of Extinguishers; Extinguishing Agents; Extinguisher Inspection Practices; Fire Ignition Sources; Low-volume hand lines; and hands-on practice extinguishing incipient fires.
If you work on or around the water you must be prepared for a sudden, unexpected water entry. Newspapers regularly report the drowning fatalities of maritime workers who have fallen from barges, ships and docks while wearing their personal flotation work vests! Just because you are properly wearing a personal flotation device doesnt mean it will keep you from drowning.
