Rescue Training Classes
Our instructors in this technical subject area not only teach rescue but also respond to calls for rescue assistance across a wide area. We have experience in confined space, high angle, barge, shipboard, vehicle, bus and water rescue operations. Our simplified training methods have been developed to make the necessary technical rescue skills for these areas easy to learn and practical to use.
Introduction to High Angle Rescue
This class is designed to enable emergency responders to gain the abilities needed to act in a support function to a high angle rescue team during a high angle rescue operation. The class will focus on the responders responsibilities at a high angle rescue operation, the hazards associated with high angle rescue, types and uses of special equipment used in high angle rescue and basic rescue practices.
Rope rescue is frequently defined in terms of the type and steepness of the terrain it is to be performed on. High angle rescue is considered to be terrain that has a slope angle of 60o and higher. Rescuers are totally dependent upon the ropes used to keep them and the victims from falling and to gain access to the rescue location. These high angles may include pipe racks, building ledges and roofs, catwalks, tops of vessels, cranes, cliffs, etc. This course consists of classroom lecture and practical field exercises with a major emphasis placed upon hands-on practical exercises. Major subject areas covered include: rope construction and care, rescue knot tying, rope accessory equipment, litter types, lowering systems, hauling systems and litter operations.
Introduction to Confined Space Rescue
This class is designed to enable emergency responders to gain the abilities needed to act in a support function to a confined space rescue team during a confined space rescue operation. The class will focus on the responder's responsibilities at a confined space rescue operation, the hazards associated with confined space rescue, types and uses of special equipment used in confined space rescue and basic rescue practices.
This course is designed to provide the emergency response team member, who also has rescue responsibilities, with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely perform a rescue from confined spaces using ropes and associated rescue hardware and software. The course consists of classroom lecture and practical field exercises with a major emphasis placed upon hands-on practical exercises. Major subject areas covered include: confined space standards, atmospheric testing, respiratory protection, rope care, rescue knot tying, rope accessory equipment, litter types, lowering systems, hauling systems and patient packaging.
Confined Space Rescue Refresher
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires annual refresher training in the skills needed to successfully and safely perform a confined space rescue. This class is designed to meet and exceed those requirements and keep your rescue personnel's skills updated.
All employees required to enter and work in confined spaces are mandated by OSHA to be properly trained and equipped before performing any tasks assigned to them by their employer. This course is designed to prepare those employees to work safely in confined spaces and to meet or exceed the requirements of OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.146. Subjects to be covered include: Confined Space Regulations Overview; Hazard Recognition; Hot Work Safety; Personal Protective Equipment; and Self-Rescue.
This class is designed to enable employees to function as a confined space attendant and to safe guard their fellow employees working in confined spaces. Subjects to be covered include: Confined Space Regulations Overview; Hazard Recognition Including Signs and Symptoms of Exposure to Hazardous Atmospheres; Personal Protective Equipment; and Emergency Operations.
This class is designed to give supervisors the knowledge and skills required under 29 CFR 1910.146 which states that the employer shall ensure that each entry supervisor is trained in hazard recognition, permit system requirements, personal protective equipment and employee safety.
This specialized rescue course is designed to enable your rescuers to use the extrication tools available to them in the most effective manner when removing trapped victims from vehicle accidents. Subjects to be covered include: tools and equipment safety, vehicle stabilization techniques, and hands-on rescue exercises.
This intensive course consists of vehicle construction features, case study reviews, vehicle in-service tours, hands-on examination of bus construction features, hands-on practical skills applications which will enable the student to identify and describe the most likely accident scenarios, assess safety measures for bus rescue operations, basic level skills evolutions, intermediate level skills evolutions, and advanced level skills evolutions.
A river rescue is one of the most potentially hazardous situations rescue personnel can encounter. This class is designed to teach both diving and non-diving personnel the safe and effective river rescue techniques used by successful teams around the world. Subjects covered include reading a river for hazards, low head dams, floods, search patterns and specialized equipment and techniques. Class length is 20 to 40 hours depending upon the needs of the client.
If you work on or around the water you must be prepared for a sudden, unexpected water entry. Newspapers regularly report on drowning fatalities of workers and civilians who have fallen from barges, ships and docks while wearing their personal flotation devices! Just because you are properly wearing a personal flotation device doesn't mean it will keep you from drowning.
How many of your firefighters are non-swimmers? How many of your firefighters will panic when they inadvertently enter the water because of a lack of training, misinformation and myths? This 8 hour course teaches the skills needed to survive a sudden and unexpected water immersion. It is designed to teach basic water safety information including drowning factors, causes and treatment, immersion hypothermia, personal flotation devices and survival strategies. The class includes in-water practice of the techniques taught in the classroom.
This 30 hour class teaches certified divers the skills needed to perform those underwater tasks involving rescue and recovery. Subjects include Cold Water Near Drownings, Search Patterns, Team Organization/Dive Accidents, Underwater Investigations, a Pool Skills Check, Scene Evaluation, Auto Accidents, Search Pattern Dives, Rescue/Recovery Dives, Handling The Family & Media, Victim Refloat/Team Stress, Team Public Relations/Funding.
