 Medical Training Programs

Our medical instructors have years of field and hospital based experience dealing with a broad range of medical emergencies from simple illness calls to major trauma and mass casualty incidents. Our instructors include Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics, Paramedic Instructors and Hyperbaric Medical Technologists.

  • Cold Water Near Drowning -  This 2-hour course is designed for emergency response personnel and members of the general public who become involved in drowning incidents. Proper first aid procedures and the victim care necessary to successfully resuscitate victims of hypothermia and cold water near drownings are covered.


  • Patient Packaging for the First Responder - Many industrial medical first responders are required by their employers to provide a level of medical care above first responder and below emergency medical technician. This 8 hour class teaches the techniques of patient packaging and spinal immobilization.


  • Basic First Aid/Heart Saver CPR - The First Aid Training program is the National Safety Council’s Basic First Aid course for industry. Each student will receive a student manual as part of the course. A renewable basic medical certification is issued to all graduates of the medical training program. Graduates will receive a certification card signifying completion of their competency in this OSHA required subject.


  • Basic First Aid/Health Care Provider CPR - The First Aid Training program is the National Safety Council’s Basic First Aid course for industry. Each student will receive a student manual as part of the course.   • DOT First Responder (Taught in Louisiana only) - This class is based upon the old D.O.T. First Responder Medical program which is accepted by the State of Louisiana’s Bureau of EMS. When the program was recently updated by the D.O.T., it was stripped of many of its most basic medical skills and was not accepted as a valid medical training program by the State of Louisiana.


    The class covers the subjects of: Overview of the Human Body, Diagnostic Signs & Patient Evaluation, Anatomy & Physiology of the Airway, Shock, Bleeding, & Primary Patient Survey, CPR, Injuries to Tissue & Internal Organs, Injuries to the Extremities, Splinting, Injuries to the Skull, Chest & Spine, Medical Emergencies, Poisons & Drugs, Environmental Emergencies & Special Patients, Burns & Smoke Inhalation, Emergency Childbirth, Moving Patients, Triage & Review of Vital Signs & Patient Assessment, Situational Review and Final Written & Practical Examinations.


  • First Responder Refresher (Taught in Louisiana only) - The Medical First Responder Refresher Training program is based upon the United States Department of Transportation curriculum for Medical First Responders that is accepted by the State of Louisiana Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.


    Students will have a brief classroom review of the subjects listed above for Medical First Responder and will then perform extensive hands-on practical exercises in patient care and packaging.


  • Emergency Medical Technician (Taught in Louisiana only) - This 156-hour program meets and exceeds the Department of Transportation objectives and requirements of the EMT-B program and all requirements needed to take the National Registry of EMT’s certification exam. Subjects to be covered include: Introduction to Emergency Medical Care,  Medical/Legal and Ethical Issues, Anatomy, Vital Signs and History, Lifting and Moving Patients, Airway, Scene and Patient Assessment, Trauma Patients,  Medical Patients, Communications, Documentation, Obstetrics/Gynecology, General Pharmacology, Respiratory Emergencies, Cardiovascular Emergencies, Diabetes/Altered Mental Status, Allergies, Poisoning/Overdose, Environmental Emergencies, Behavioral Emergencies, Bleeding and Shock, Soft Tissue Injuries, Musculoskeletal Care, Injuries to the Head and Spine, Infants and Children, Ambulance Operations, and ambulance ride time.
